Pity The Jena Six: They Don't Know Any Better

What's the difference legally between the symbolic display of noose on a school campus tree and attempted murder? While you ponder, add what you think the puishment should be for either.

The Jena Six African-Americans think that beating one white boy unconscious and leaving him possibly dead is a justifiable retaliation for the symbolic nooses being displayed. The Six have much support in the African American community and also whites who feel guilty for whatever reason.

Times up.You should have arriveed at an answer. New question: What has the Civil Rights movement done to improve critical thinking and race relations in America?

When the FACT OF LIFE that you can be beaten, tortured, and hung by the very people that are supposed to be protecting you (law enforcement officers)becomes FACT OF YOUR LIFE. Then you can downplay the imagery presented by a noose hanging from a tree.

My point is that for every Black American in this country the fact that you could be lynched or beaten by police at anytime in your life is just a fact of life that you accept as normal. Just as much as breathing, eating, going to the restroom. Its something that is a must be just dealt with.

That type of internalization is why white people cannot understand the symbology that something like a hanging noose or a confederate battle flag presents. Because its NOT a fact of white american life or experiance.
