PURDUE PHARMA BANKRUPTCY: WHAT ABOUT SUING DOCTORS?

Purdue Pharma declared bankruptcy yesterday.Thousands of law suits forced a legal cease fire to count assets and the liabilities.Doesn't Purdue Pharma's OxyContin which is the drug that has been abused by thousands and "caused" the opioid crisis in America a prescription-required substance? In other words , doesn't a doctor have to write a prescription for the "victim" to purchase the pain killer? If so, why weren't doctors sued for enabling the victims to receive their fix so-to-speak and get addicted? I guess there's less money in suing individual doctors I would think. Purdue is a one stop drive buy shake down and settlement.I want to know how Purdue would be viewed if it denied OxyContin to certain victims and they in turn contacted an attorney for help in securing pain relief? How would an attorney respond to a plea for help in dealing with pain? This is a trial run ,pun intended, of how a law suit against gun manufacturers would go if we didn't have the second amendment.Shakespeare in Hamlet had one of his actors say "First thing we do is get rid of all the attorneys".
